Walkthrough

Speak to King Bolren in the Tree Gnome Village to begin the quest.

Return of the Cute Creatures

King Bolren is not convinced that his pet is evil, forcing you to undo the illusion to prove him wrong.
Head out of the Tree Gnome Village by squeezing through loose railings to the south-west near Elkoy, then climb down a ladder just south of the village inside the maze (the red exclamation mark on the minimap).
Once inside the cave, head west and speak to Golrie who will mention that the store room to the east has some Elven artifacts. Head east and search the crates (The one that looks different from the others) for a key and then crawl into a tunnel north, bringing you into the storeroom.

Storeroom

Monoliths in the store room are in your way to explore the place. Place yourself to one side of a monolith then click it to push it away from you.
The first monolith only requires you to push it forward north once to get past it.
The next set of monoliths is made up of 3 big monoliths and 1 small monolith.

  1. Push the south-western big monolith north once
  2. Push the north-western big monolith east once
  3. Go around and push the small monolith south once
  4. Push the south-eastern big monolith west once
  5. Push the south-western big monolith south once
  6. Push the north-western big monolith west once
  7. Push the north-western big monolith south once

The pathing in this room is strange, but if done correctly you will clear the storeroom of obstacles. If you leave the storeroom, the monoliths return to their original positions.
Around the storeroom are several chests. Make sure to search every chest until it is bare.
The two northern chests contains a Key to a chest, Yewnocks' notes, and some crystal shapes.
The chest to the south of the 4 monoliths contains more crystal shapes.
The Mahogany chest contains the Strongroom key.
Head to the Singing bowl and turn your Small crystal seed into a Crystal chime.
If you brought a Crystal saw, use the revert function of the Singing bowl to turn it into a Small crystal seed, and then turn it into a Crystal chime.
Head west and enter the room past the iron bar door to work on Yewnocks' machine.

Yewnocks' Machine

The machine is similar to the machine you worked on in The Eyes of Glouphrie, though this time you are given shapes instead of a number.
Your goal is to insert some shape(s) into the machine slot that total the value of the shape(s) in the dark grey boxes.
So for example, a slot followed by two shapes (A Yellow pentagon and a Blue triangle) would require you to insert a shape that totals the value of the two shapes
(15yellow pentagon + 15blue triangle = 30indigo pentagon)
Use the exchanger to the right of the machine to swap disks for other disks, you can keep clicking on the arrows to see more exchange options. Choose a disk in your inventory and then click on the disk slot to insert it into the machine. You cannot exchange disks which total greater than 35. See the image below for help on the disk values.

For example, to obtain a yellow pentagon you would need to insert disks which total to a value greater than or equal to 15 into the exchanger, and then keep flipping through exchange options to obtain one.
You only have to insert 3 shapes total into the machine and then press the green button to the lower right to deactivate the illusion. Return to King Bolren once the illusion is dispelled. The tunnel north of the 4 monolith set returns you to Golrie's cave.

Arposandra

If you haven't already, kill the evil pet, then speak to King Bolren.
The King wants you to speak to Gianne jnr. who is located at the Gnome Stronghold (2nd floor far north-west side).
Gianne jnr. reveals to you the exact coordinate location of Longramble. Bringing a chart, a watch, and a sextant is unnecessary.
Prepare yourself for some future battles by equipping some armor, a weapon, taking some food and some prayer potions. Do not forget to take your Crystal chime.
Head to Castle Wars and go south-west into a swamp area. Head all the way west towards the location of the Teak tree and to the north of it, on a small island in the middle of the river, is a tree you can grapple to. With a crossbow in hand and a Mith grapple in your ammo slot, swing across to find Longramble.
After talking to Longramble, head north and speak to the Spirit tree, forcing a cutscene. After the talk, use the Cystal chime on the tree to heal it. At this point you have unlocked the ability to freely warp between any of the spirit trees.
Head to the west and to the south is a sewer entrance, enter it.

Sewer

MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR THIS PART. THE BOSS AREA YOU CAN TAKE 20+ DAMAGE FROM EACH NPC AND ITS MULTICOMBAT!!!

poison-waste-dungeon.png

The sewer has several warped tortoise which won't attack you, and several hostile terrorbirds.
Turn on protect from missiles to avoid ranged damage from terrorbirds.

  • In the room with the warped tortoise, climb up a ladder.
  • In the next room, head east and climb down a ladder.
  • In the next room, head north to climb up another ladder.
  • This next room is massive, head to the north-west. Some tar may slow you down and stop you from running. Climb down a ladder you see.
  • Run east and climb up another ladder.
  • Run to the north-west around this large oval shaped room to enter an intersection area.

Turn on Protect from Missiles BEFORE entering the boss room
Heal up and sip any prayer/S.restore potions you have as the next room will have you fight 3 level 143 terrorbirds.
These terrorbirds are only vulnerable to attacks when you use your Crystal chime on them, they will discolor into a green shade to show that you can attack them. If they return to a grey color, use the chime on them again. Beware they can hit 20s on you, so make sure only one is attacking you.
Stay near the room's metal door and keep Protect from Missiles on to only have a single terrorbird attack you. Being close to the door will also allow quick escape from battle, you CANNOT teleport out.
Be careful not to accidentally click on the door midbattle, the birds are completely healed when you enter the room.
With all this in mind, head into the eastern room of the intersection area to begin battle.
With the battle over, peak through the gate to start a cutscene.
After the cutscene, speak to Hazelmere to finish the quest!
