Big Chompy Bird Hunting

Requirements

Walkthrough

Finding Rantz

1. Speak to Rantz to start the quest. He can be found in the clearing to the east of Feldip Hills, near a mining site.
2. Rantz will tell you he is hungry and wants you to make him some arrows so he can hunt the Chompy bird.

Making the Arrows

1. Use a chisel on Wolf bones to make the arrowtips. If you don't have these bones, head slightly southwest of Rantz to find a clearing full of level 64 wolves. They can be safespotted from the high ground next to the trees southeast of the wolves. The amount of tips you get from a bone is random, usually 2-6. You need to give 6 arrows to Rantz.
2. Chop down the Achey Trees. Use your knife on the logs to create the arrow shafts. Just like with the arrow tips, the amount of arrow shafts you get is random, between 2 and 6.
3. Use the feathers on the arrow shafts to create Flighted ogre arrows.
4. Use the Flighted ogre arrows with the wolfbone arrowtips to make the ogre arrows.

Gathering the Bait

1. Return to Rantz and give him six arrows. He will mention swamp toads.
2. Make sure to exhaust all of Rantz's dialogue, then enter the cave directly north of him.
3. Talk to Fycie and Bugs. They will tell you the ogre bellows are found in the chest with a rock on top.
4. Attempt to open the chest. If your fail, your Strength will be reduced by 1. Search the chest to receive the Ogre bellows.
5. Head southwest of Rantz to the clearing with the wolves.
6. Use your Ogre bellows on the swamp bubbles in the pond.
7. Use your Ogre bellows on a swamp toad to get a bloated toad. Do this three times. You will have to re-inflate your bellows after three toads.

Hunting the Chompy

1. Return to Rantz. He will show you where to place the bait.
2. Drop a bloated toad on the spot with the flashing yellow arrow. Walk back to Rantz. You may have to repeat this since the Chompy bird doesn't always appear.
3. Repeat this until a Chompy bird appears. Rantz will fail to hit it.
4. Tell Rantz it would be better if you handled the shooting. He will give you his Ogre bow.
5. Drop another bloated toad and retreat towards Rantz. A Chompy will appear, shoot and kill it, pick up the raw Chompy it drops.

Getting the Recipe

1. Speak to Rantz, he will tell you to cook the Chompy. You need to season the Chompy with three ingredients to meet his demands. He will mention which ingredient he wants during this dialogue.
2. Head north into Rantz's cave and speak to both of his children. They will mention the other two ingredients.

Finding the Ingredients

The Equa leaves, Doogle leaves and tomato show on the minimap. The others don't, so look carefully.

• Tomato: West of Rantz, on a stool in the clearing with regular ogres walking about, near a campfire
• Onion: West of Rantz, growing around the stool with the Tomato, near a campfire
• Doogle leaves: West of Rantz, growing slightly northwest of the Onions and Tomato.
• Equa leaves: Clearing southeast of Rantz.
• Cabbage: Clearing southeast of Rantz, near the Equa leaves
• Potato: Clearing southeast of Rantz, near the Equa leaves

Cooking the Chompy

1. Use the Chompy on the spitroast fire. (Ingredients will use themselves automatically after)
2. Give the Chompy to Rantz.
3. Quest complete!
